Pentagon has revoked security details and approval for Gene Mark Milley, a former US general who was critical of US President Donald Trump.
Defense Minister Pete Hegsetth directed the move as one of his first works in power, asking officials to investigate the “behavior” of gene Milley and inspect his military rating.
Gen Milley has previously served as the best American general during Trump’s first term, but later criticized his former boss and quoted by calling him a “fascist.”
Ever since he returned to his duties, Trump has reprimanded security protection for a few former officials he clashed with, including the former best health officer Anthony Fauci.
Trump has previously accused Gena Milley of trembling for telephone calls he held with his Chinese colleague during the last weeks of his first Trump presidency, including rebellion in the US Capitol building by Trump’s supporters 2021.
Gen Milley allegedly used one of the calls to convince China that the United States would not start a nuclear strike. On social networks, the president described these calls as “an act so awful that, in times she would pass, the punishment would be death!”.
Gen Milley, however, testified that calls were coordinated with other defense secretaries.
It was in the book Bob Woodward, published last year, Gen Milley quoted by calling Trump’s “Fascist to the Core” and “The most dangerous persons in this country.”
And in 2023, when he gave his last speech as the president of the joint head of the headquarters, Gen Milley said that the army did not lay the oath “Wannabe dictator”. The comment that many saw as a reference to Trump, a man who nominated him first for work.
On the eve of Trump’s return to the White House last week, leaving President Joe Biden issued Gen Milley – and a few others, including Fauci – a prevailing pardon in the event that they face a rest from Trump.
Biden’s statement says that pardons “should not be mistaken as a confession” that any of those who covered “engaged in any injustice.”
Gen Milley thanked Biden for that move and said that he did not want to spend the rest of his life “fighting against those who unjustly seek retaliation for perceived lightweight.”
“I do not want to put my family, my friends and those with whom I have served through the resulting disturbance, costs and anxiety,” he said.
The news that Gen Milley was taken away from his security details, and security approval was confirmed in a statement to US partner BBC, CBS News.
It was also said that the Ministry of Defense of General Inspector also “conducted an investigation into facts and circumstances over the behavior of Gene Milley’s behavior so that the secretary could determine if it was appropriate to re -open his decision to review the military grade,” the statement said.
Trump’s new administration has also revoked the security protection of his former Secretary of State Mike Pompe, his former national security advisor John Bolton and his former envoy Brian Hook.
In hours after Trump’s second inauguration, Trump officials also removed a portrait from Pentagon, depicting the gene Milley as chairman of the joint bosses.
