International calls to peace negotiations increases to end the escalation of violence in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The fate of the economic and trade center of Goma is still not clear. UN officials said the situation was chaotic when fighting continued in parts of the city.

Reports say at least 17 people were killed and close to 400 wounded.
