Pakistan vs West Indies: Jomel Warrican helps tourists secure Pakistan’s first win since 1990 | Cricket news
West Indies claimed their first win in Pakistan since 1990 to level the series after Jomel Warrican’s five to secure a 120-run win on day three of the second Test in Multan.
Resuming on 76-4 and chasing 178 runs to win, Pakistan lost both overnights without adding to the total as Kevin Sinclair (3-61) was caught in the slips off the third ball of the morning by Saud Shakeel and Warrican clean nighter Kashif Ali (1). in the next one.
Mohammad Rizwan (25) and Salman Ali Agha (15) added 39 runs before both fell to the Warrican left-armer (5-27).
Salman, who had earlier survived a close chance for Warrican, was trapped LBW, before Rizwan tucked a delivery that crept into him to leave Pakistan on 122-8.
Gudakesh Motie (2-35) dismissed Noman Ali (6) before the Warrican wiped the tail clean bowling fellow Spinner Sajid Khan (7).
It was a remarkable turnaround for West Indies who lost the first Test by 127 runs at the same venue and were 38-7 on the first day of the second Test after Noman’s historic hat-trick.
However, the West Indies lower order lifted them to 163 all out for a slim nine-run first over.
Captain Kraigg Brathwaite’s (52) half-century in the second innings then guided West Indies to post 244 for a total lead of 253 runs, before the Pakistan batsmen fell into their swing-pitched trap against the tourists.
The defeat for Pakistan pushed them to the bottom of the World Cup table as both teams ended their two-year campaigns.
