Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign striker Omar Marmoush.
Marmoush, who can operate across the front three, has scored 15 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season, just one behind Bayern Munich attacker Harry Kane which is at the top of the ranking with 16.
The Egyptian international agreed in principle to a move to City last week, pending an agreement between the clubs.
Since then, negotiations between the clubs have accelerated, with Eintracht demanding around £67.5m (€80m) to part with their prized asset.
Txiki Begiristan, City’s outgoing sporting director, held fresh talks with Eintracht on Monday with the two clubs edging closer to agreeing a price for Marmoush.
City’s offer on Wednesday is believed to be slightly lower than Eintracht’s initial demands, in the range of £59m (€70m) fixed, plus £4.2m to £8.4m (€5m to €10m) in accessories.
Begiristain now appears to have made the breakthrough – with City now poised to bolster their attacking options after they attempted to revitalize their defense with a deal for Palmeiras perspective Vitor Reis and Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov.
