Olympic gymnast Suni Lee vows to never ski again after a disastrous first experience

During a trip to Montreal, Canada, Lee showed off her failed attempt at skiing with a photo and video of her lying on the front of her skis after falling in front of the entrance to the slope. He claims it will be the last time he tries skiing.

“First time skiing,” she wrote. “OMG never again.”

A video of her lying on the snow, taken by her friend Samira Ahmed and re-shared on Lee’s story, showed the gymnast laughing as she writhed in the snow. The caption on that video reads: “This is why I stay off the slopes.”

While fans can certainly expect Lee to not be seen competing in the upcoming 2026 Milan Olympics, her skiing struggles are certainly not due to a lack of athleticism or coordination.

Lee is the 2020 Olympic all-around gold medalist and uneven bars bronze medalist and Olympic uneven bars bronze medalist. She also helped contribute to Team USA’s Gold medal in 2024 and Silver in 2020.

She has also received many distinguished sports honors and awards, including in 2021, when she was named Sports Illustrated’s Female Athlete of the Year by the Women’s Sports Foundation. She was even included in the Time Magazine 100, which is an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
