Newcastle transfer news
The Magpies endured a mixed first half Premier League campaign before revealing his best form during December. Now, with one eye on the Carabao Cup final after a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the first leg, Eddie Howe could see some key improvements in the January transfer window to potentially push his side into the Premier League’s top four.
On that front, several names have already threatened to steal the headlines, like them Antoine Semenyo potentially in the making to give Alexander Isak the best attacking partner.
The Bournemouth winger has enjoyed an excellent season for the Cherries so far and could have done enough to earn a move to the Premier League. However, he is not the only attacking reinforcement the Tyneside club seem to be eyeing.
According to reports in Spain, Newcastle have joined the race to sign Jeremiah Hernandez from Deportivo La Coruna. The young winger reportedly has a buyout clause of just €20m (£17m) at Spanish side Segunda and is now on the Magpies’ radar, along with several other potential suitors.
Still only 22 years old, Hernandez could quickly provide Howe with an upgrade on Almiron, who is reportedly offered players like Leicester City this month as Newcastle look to cash in on their out-of-favour winger.

Selling the aging Almiron before welcoming the in-form younger Hernandez would certainly represent a wise move by all involved at St James’ Park, but whether they trigger his release clause remains to be seen.
Hernandez can force Almiron to sell
If Hernandez were to arrive, it would only mark the end of Almiron’s time in a Newcastle shirt. While the Paraguayan international has more than played his part in Newcastle’s recent rise from top-four relegation contender, there is no doubt that he is past his best and is no longer a reliable option for Howe to call upon.
Instead, Newcastle should turn their attention to a rising star in Hernandez, who could swap Spain’s second division for the biggest stage in the form of the Premier League. He scored seven goals and assisted three more for Deportivo this season, the 22-year-old is more than ready to return to the top flight – either in Spain or England.
As the January transfer window looms, Newcastle have certainly set their sights on attacking reinforcements, be it Semeny, Hernandez or another option.
Semenyo has Premier League experience but Hernandez is an exciting candidate to replace Almiron to leave Newcastle with a decision to make before the end of the transfer window.
