Munguia vs. Surace Rematch is scheduled for April 12
Jaime Munguia will reportedly fight his former conqueror, Bruno Surace, in a rematch on April 12 in Tijuana, Mexico.
Former WBO junior middleweight champion Munguia (44-2, 35 KOs) hopes to avenge his humiliating sixth-round knockout loss to Surace (26-0-2, 5 KOs) from last month on December 14 in front of his hometown fans in Tijuana.
Cobra strike
Munguia, 28, was careless in the sixth round and was dropped by a Cobra-like right from Surance. The shot sent Munguia face down to the canvas.
Jaime was on his feet after he came back and the referee, Juan Jose Ramirez, stopped it rather than allow the Frenchman to hit him with the pomegranate a second time.
Labonita_delboxeo reports news of Munguia’s return match against Surace on his Instagram channel.
It’s questionable whether it’s a good idea for Munguia to rematch Surace because this guy might have his number. Earlier in the fight, Jaime knocked him down with a left hook to the head.
However, moments later Surace stunned Munguia with a cobra-like right hand to the head. Munguia took it well, but that punch was identical to the right hand he dropped later in the fight in the sixth.
