MSNBC’s interview with Biden loses compared to comedy reruns in critical ratings of the demonstrations
Despite President Biden’s extensive advertising and underwriting final television interview During his tenure, MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell’s interview ratings lost in a large demographic to comedy shows and reruns on other platforms.
O’Donnell’s interview with Biden, which took up an hour of the show, drew 1.2 million total viewers and just 97,000 in the critical 25-54 demographic.
Reruns of “Seinfeld,” “Family Guy,” “Friends,” “The Office” and an episode of “South Park” are among the shows that won MSNBC’s 25-to-54 interview.
During 10 p.m. ET, when O’Donnell’s interview with Biden aired, Fox News Channel had a 68% share of total cable news viewers and 71% among viewers 25-54, while MSNBC had 23% and 15%, respectively .

While O’Donnell was beaten by more comedy shows among cable viewers, his interview with Biden was rated higher than last week.
But O’Donnell’s ratings fell year over year from 2023 to 2024 with multiple age demographics. “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” dropped 5% in total viewers, 6% in 25-54 and 12% in 18-49 from 2023 to 2024.
O’Donnell’s show also fell 41% in total viewers, down 45% with A25-54 and down 38% with A18-49 from December 2023 to December 2024. O’Donnell fell 19% with overall by the number of viewers, a drop of 13% in the age group of 25-54 years and a drop of 85% in the age group of 18-49 years compared to fourth quarter 2023 to fourth quarter 2024

In 2024, Fox News Channel competitor O’Donnell “Gutfeld” had a 69% lead in total viewers, 152% higher viewership in the 25-54 demo and 173% higher viewership in the 18-49 demo. .
O’Donnell praised Biden throughout the interview with the president, telling him that he had pulled off a “magic trick” with passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and combining “domestic and foreign policy” as president.
