“I know from my experience, once you get into that ring, it doesn’t matter what happened, you are zoned and you are focused.
“It was a competitive fight and it came and fought hard. So, it was okay for me. But if people want to question it, we’ll just repeat it.”
The champion herself will take additional safety precautions about this rematch because of the fear of having any attacks on revenge.
“I don’t want something like that to happen,” Mayer insisted. “Please don’t sabotage this fight.
“I want to clear rumors. I want to clear questions about her mental state in the fight.”
This incident, the first struggle itself and the war of words around the fight, used to encourage rivalry that has already grown when Ryan started working with Mayer’s previous training.
The move prompted Mayer to change her set training, but the American did not be ashamed to agree to another fight. She shook her losses from Alycia Baumgardner and Natasha Jonas and still waits for them to get any of these rematch.
“That’s what I understand,” Mayer said. “You could say that I was doing her service. You could say that I’m doing the right thing. At the end of the day it’s the best option for me.
“I have never given up on the challenge. I have never been afraid to go abroad, or go to the prank, or do what I have to do to fight that excitement and motivate me.
“At this stage of my career, I want to be inspired, fighting girls who motivate me to train hard and that people are excited to see.”
Ryan: I fought in anger
“As crazy as it may sound after what happened last time in New York, I’m actually looking forward to returning to the US,” Ryan said.
“I already had some extraordinary struggles in history here, so it is an opportunity to return and show my talent while the title in the combat capital of the world is incredible.
“This time I will be fully ready for what comes to my journey. I do not pronounce myself, but after what happened before the fight last time, I fought in anger and that made it a clear influence on my performance.
“It’s the biggest fight for both of us and everyone wants to see it again,” she added. “The world will see the focused, determined and talented fighter in the form of my life, and I will regain my world title.”
Mayer’s indisputable goal
While Mayer and Ryan are fighting for one of the world’s main titles in the Welters on March 29, Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price Box for the other March 7th at Royal Albert Hall, live on Sky Sports.
Mayer is fully expecting the winner of her fight for the flank Jonas-Price Victor later in 2025 for an indisputable crown.
“It’s a trajectory we’re definitely on,” she said. “They will combine the belts. I will have the final belt that they will disappoint and we will have to fight. I mean, we will have to fight.
“Unfortunately, I will have one belt and price or Jonas will have three, so I may have to go back to the UK to settle as I am undoubtedly.
“At that moment I have nothing to lose. The opportunity is there, the money will be there, the eyes will be there.
“There is no reason why that fight should not end by the end of the year.”
