Man Utd latest transfer: Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee attract interest from Serie A clubs AC Milan and Juventus | Football news
Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee are attracting interest from Serie A clubs.
AC Milan are debating internally whether to make a move for Rashford, and could enter into further discussions on the idea this week. Milan could only borrow – and would need United to pay a large chunk of his wages.
Rashford’s salary is a big obstacle for Milan to make any loan deal. They are among a number of clubs considering moves for the 27-year-old England striker.
United are yet to receive a formal offer for Rashford, while United head coach Ruben Amorim said it was up to Rashford to return to first-team action.
All options seem to remain open. Ideally for United, Rashford is back on track and doing well for the team, which would likely increase his value if the club decide to sell him in the summer.
Alternatively, while a loan move – and part of the wages – is not ideal, United can point to the benefit such a move had on Jadon Sancho’s value last season.
Juventus delighted with Zirkzee
Juventus are interested in signing the Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Juve wants him on loan and is led by Thiago Motta, under whom Zirkzee played in Bologna.
United are unlikely to consider a loan move – Zirkzee has featured in every matchday squad under Amorim and the head coach says he wants to keep him.
“I want to keep Josh because he gives everything,” Amorim said. “He’s trying in training, but we don’t know, the window is open. We’ll see what happens.”
Sky Sports News also understands that Zirkzee has no interest in leaving Manchester United as he loves the club and is determined to prove himself in the Premier League.
The player’s camp received multiple approaches about the move. Like Juventus, Napoli, Inter and Milan – and several Premier League clubs – want the player, but they’ve all been told he’s not going anywhere.
Bruno Fernandesmeanwhile, he said United’s players believed in Zirkzee amid a challenging period for the 23-year-old, who was jeered by some United fans in the first half against Newcastle last month.
Zirkzee was applauded by United fans when he came on against Liverpool on Sunday, and the striker converted a last-minute chance for Harry Maguire, who blazed over.
“I was in the stands [against Newcastle] and I’ve never seen anything like this and it really frustrates and annoys me because he’s a player who always gives his best,” Fernandes said.
“As a player coming to a team from another league, he needs time to adapt, but he has enormous qualities.
“He didn’t show all the quality, but it can’t be that since the first game of the season everyone praised him as one of the best strikers, and now everyone no longer believes in him.
“We believe in him in the dressing room. I’d rather be me in this position against Newcastle and not see one of my teammates in that position.”
Man Utd are planning ahead for the summer
Meanwhile, United are known to be keeping an eye on it Nuno Mendes from Paris Saint-Germain.
The left wing area has been a big problem for United with injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Mendes has entered the final 18 months of his contract and talks over a new contract have so far failed to reach a resolution.
United have nevertheless agreed a deal to sign the Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon from Cerro Porten.
He will join in the summer as he will not turn 18 until April. It is believed that the player will soon arrive in Manchester for a medical.
