Liverpool v Man Utd go ahead despite snow disruption


Despite heavy snowfall and severe delays in various modes of transport, Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Manchester United is going ahead as planned.

The furniture was in danger of delay after wintry conditions blanketed the Merseyside region in a thick blanket of snow. Officials delayed their decision until midday in the hope the weather would change and confirmed the 4.30pm kick-off would go ahead as planned.

Manchester Airport was closed for almost four hours on Sunday morning after snow fell and LiverpoolJohn Lennon Airport was reopened only at 10:15. Both venues reported major delays and cancellations.

Despite the Met Office’s yellow warning for snow, ice and freezing rain, Liverpool confirmed that Premier League a meeting with their bitter rivals would take place.

“Today’s match against Manchester United will continue as planned,” the club said in a statement. “Earlier, two safety meetings were held to assess weather and travel conditions. Thanks to everyone who helped us launch this game today. If you are traveling to Anfield, take extra care. We look forward to seeing you there.”

Liverpool enjoy a comfortable cushion at the top of the Premier League and could extend their lead above Manchester United is threatened with relegation to an incredible 26 points with a win on Sunday.
