Liverpool have secured Scotland international Sam Kerr on loan from frauen-Bundesliga side Bayern Munich for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 25-year-old moves to Merseyside after struggling to break into Alexander Straus’ Bayern side this season, making just two starts so far.
The midfielder will be a strong addition to Matt Beard’s side, who have been criticized for their lackluster efforts in the summer transfer window ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season. Kerr made 30 international appearances for Scotland and was crowned Player of the Year for the 2022 season. She was also named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for the 2021/22 campaign. and 2022/23.
Kerr is no stranger to silver medals, having won six league titles during her career so far. She secured the Scottish Women’s Premier League title with Glasgow City in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, before winning it again with Rangers in 2022.
“We made the decision together with Sam that it is important for her development that she gets more playing time,” Bayern Munich director of women’s football Bianca Rech said. “In Liverpool we have found a club that suits Sam perfectly in terms of culture and language.”
