Liverpool have confirmed a permanent transfer for the goalkeeper to return home to Brazil


Liverpool have agreed a permanent deal transfer goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga to Brazilian club Fluminense after four years at the Premier League club.

The Reds originally signed Rio de Janeiro-born Pitaluga from Fluminense in January 2021, moving to England for a reported £2million after he turned 18 a month earlier.

The tall goalkeeper linked up with the juniors and quickly made appearances in the Premier League Under-18s and Premier League 2. During the following season in 2021/22, Pitaluga became a regular for the Under-21s, but also made several first-team appearances. teams on match days.

Liverpool saw fit to loan him out to gain experience and the youngster made his senior football debut for League Seven side Phoenix Macclesfield FC. But further loans to St Patrick’s Athletic and Livingston in the Republic of Ireland and Scotland did not provide the expected chances.

Both Liverpool and Fluminense have announced the proposed transfer, which remains dependent on what should be formalities for Pitaluga, now 22, and passing a satisfactory medical.
