As Andrew Robertson continues to fight, Liverpool have reportedly opened negotiations to sign the young left-back who could eventually replace the aging Scot at Anfield.

The Reds have been unstoppable at times this campaign, losing just twice in all competitions and leading the Premier League and the Champions League. Which will also please the manager Arne Slott so his side bounced back from a shock defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup by living up to expectations and easing to victory against League Two side Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.
However, defeat at Spurs may have signaled some alarm bells for the Dutchman, as his side struggled to match the intensity of the Lilywhits just days after drawing 2-2 against rivals Manchester United.
Once again, Robertson was on the scene when Amad Diallo scored a late equalizer for Manchester United last time out at Anfield and once again questions are being asked about whether the time has come for the Reds to replace the Scotland captain – questions that could be answered this month.

According to reports carried by Sport Witness, Liverpool have now completed negotiations to sign El Hadji Malick Diouf with the left-back’s agent in a deal expected to meet Slavia Prague’s €25m (£21m) valuation.
With the likes of Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest also eyeing the defender, Liverpool could quickly use their place among the best in European football to lure him to Anfield.
At just 20 years old, Diouf should be a candidate to replace Robertson in the years to come and potentially end the growing problem under Slott. However, whether the Reds will make their move this month remains to be seen.

While he loves Miloš Kerkez would steal more headlines, it wouldn’t be the first time Michael Edwards has gone against the obvious choice at Anfield, and Diouf’s £17m price tag should certainly be tempting. A player who can mold the slot into the reliable option that Robertson struggled to become under the Dutchman, Diouf is certainly one to watch.
With six goals and three assists to his name in all competitions this season, Liverpool would certainly not have to worry about Diouf’s attacking output and ability to replicate the quality that Robertson has provided the Reds with for several years.
The left-back position is secure for Liverpool. Whether it’s Kerkez, Diouf or another option, replacing Robertson seems to be becoming a higher priority after his struggles.
If they want more than just this season’s Premier League title, welcoming a future star in Diouf would be one way to achieve that rather than fall back on Robertson, especially if they make a move before the winter window closes.
