Liverpool are eyeing the transfer of Marcus Thuram, Darwin Nunez can leave
Liverpool have reportedly decided they would be willing to trade Darwin Nunez following his disappointing performances since signing for the club.
Nunez looked like an exciting signing when he first joined the Reds under previous manager Jurgen Klopp, but he just hasn’t been able to settle down and reproduce the form he showed at his former club Benfica.
It makes sense that new Liverpool manager Arne Slot now appears ready to let the Uruguayan international leave, and it could be that an exciting replacement has been brought forward.
Liverpool’s rival Man United for 50 million pounds for the star of the Premier League!
It is according to TEAMtalkwho state that Liverpool are interested in Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram as one of their goals in the attack.
The report also lists Newcastle’s Alexander Isak as an option, although he would be much more expensive, while Thuram’s asking price could be around €85m.
Should Liverpool sign Marcus Thuram to replace Darwin Nunez?
Thuram has played well for Inter, so that could be an upgrade for Nunez, who has developed a reputation for being a bit erratic with his finishing.
In contrast, Inter’s French striker has an impressive 12 goals in 17 Serie A games this season, so he seems a bit more reliable in front of goal.
The 27-year-old has never played in the Premier League before, so that could count against him, as Nunez revealed he could not improve his game after moving from Portugal to England.
Thuram won’t necessarily face the same problems, but it’s worth noting that Serie A is weaker than it used to be, with many of the Premier League’s failures shining a light recently following his move to Italy.
A number of players who struggled at Chelsea, such as Romelu Lukaku and Christian Pulisic, look much better now that they are in Serie A, so it could be that the effect would be similar in the opposite direction, with someone like Thuram perhaps unlikely to be good enough to leads the line for a top Premier League club.
