Lecce manager offers Patrick Dorg an update after Man Utd second bid rejected
Lecce manager Marco Giampaolo praised Patrick Dorgu for being able to rediscover his focus amid the highlights interest in his services from Manchester United.
Dorgu is United’s main target for reinforcements at left-back, but the Red Devils have so far failed to meet Lecce’s €40m (£33.8m) price tag. They have submitted two offers for the Danish international, the last of which was worth €30m (£25.3m).
Giampaolo admitted the speculation initially took its toll on Dorg, but the 20-year-old recently managed to distance himself from the reports.
“This week was good, last week was a bit of a distraction,” Giampaolo said. “He is 20 years old, everyone is talking about him, the best European teams are calling him, it is normal and he is human.
“However, he is very mature. Last week he certainly had a drop in attention, but in the last few days I have seen him well, I have spoken to him and I don’t think he is upset by the transfer market.”
United He is expected to return with a third offer for Dorgu, who is understood to be keen on the move, but ESPN claim that the Red Devils are now considering re-signing Alvaro Carreras from Benfica if they cannot sign Dorga.
Carreras left United’s academy last summer but is available for a buyout clause of around €18m (£15.2m). However, he recently insisted that he did he is in no hurry to leave the Portuguese side.
