Lebanon is set to elect a president after 12 unsuccessful elections, the army chief emerges as the favorite

Lebanon’s parliament looked set to elect army chief Joseph Aoun as the country’s new president on Thursday after a Hezbollah-backed candidate withdrew from the race, ending more than two years of political deadlock. FRANCE 24’s Rawad Taha reports from Beirut.
