Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass turned down an offer from the New York Fire Department to help fight the deadly wildfires that have engulfed the Golden State, the New York Post reported.

As of Friday morning, wildfires in California have burned more than 10,000 homes and buildings in the Los Angeles territory. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently agreed to pay for additional firefighters after the state reported they were over capacity.

New York City Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker extended the offer “in the last few days,” according to the report. JetBlue agreed to pay to transport the firefighters to the city.
