A 26-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering the wife and two daughters of Sky and BBC racing commentator John Hunt in a crossbow attack.
Kyle Clifford, from Enfield, is accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend Louise Hunt, 25, and her sister Hannah Hunt, 28, with a crossbow and killing their mother Carol Hunt, 61, at their family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire. , July 9, 2024.
Clifford, who has served in the army since 2019 for around three years, became the subject of a manhunt hours before he was found injured at Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield, north London, after shooting himself in the chest with a crossbow.
After the death, Mr Hunt said the devastation felt by him and his surviving daughter Amy was “indescribable”.
Appearing via video link at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday, Clifford pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, one count of false imprisonment against Louise Hunt and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon – a crossbow and a knife.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping Louise Hunt and will face that charge in the same court later this year.
Following the attack, the Home Office said Home Secretary Yvette Cooper was urgently considering whether tougher crossbow laws were needed.
