Kevin De Bruyne offers direct information on Man City contract negotiations
Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that there has been no progress in negotiations over a new contract with Manchester City.
De Bruyne is approaching the final six months of his contract and previously saw extension talks put on hold after suffering a hamstring injury – the same problem that plagued his 2023/24 campaign.
Now back in the squad, 33-year-old De Bruyne was recently asked if he had any updates to his contract to offer fans.
– No, nothing yet – revealed the player.
This means that De Bruyne will be able to discuss a contract with foreign clubs as early as January 1, and it is believed that a number of teams are interested in the Belgian international.
The Saudi Professional League has long seen De Bruyne as a potential dream target, while Major League Soccer expansion San Diego FC have also expressed an interest in snapping him up City midfielder for his first season.
Manager Pep Guardiola, who signed his own extension in Novemberrecently admitted he would like to see 23-year-old De Bruyne sign a new ten-year deal, but admitted the veteran midfielder’s time at the Etihad will eventually have to come to an end.
“There are players [for who] the impact on the legacy of this club will be eternal, it will be forever,” he said. “Of course it’s not easy [to replace them]but as a club, we have to find the moment, if it’s going to happen, we have to find the best way.”
