Keira Walsh: Chelsea agrees to sign a midfielder Barcelona and England at WSL’s deadline | Football news
Chelsea agreed that the Women’s Super League contract was signed by English midfielder Keira Walsh of Barcelona.
The negotiations were concluded on Thursday morning and a fee of around £ 400,000 was agreed. Walsh will have medicine in London, and an agreement is expected to be concluded before 11pm.
Walsh’s Barcelona Agreement ends in the summer and she was interested in returning to WSL.
The 27-year-old was joined by Barcelona from Manchester City 2022, with a worldwide record fee of £ 400,000 at the time.
Chelsea had overthrew the record earlier this month to sign the USA defender Naomi Girma.
Walsh has 80 caps for his country and was a key part of the team that won the Euros in 2022, and in 2023 he reached the World Cup final. She won titles and champions in the League with Barcelona after helping Man City WSL title in 2016.
If the signing of Walsh is completed, the fourth most expensive signature of women’s football ever will become.
Currently the most expensive transfers in women’s football:
1. Naomi Girma to Chelsea, £ 900,000
2. Rachael Kunnaji to Bay FC, £ 685k
3. Barbra Banda to Orlando Pride, £ 581k
4. Mayra Ramirez to Chelsea, £ 426k
5. Keira Walsh to Barcelona, £ 400,000
