Kate Middleton is the ‘glue’ when King Charles and Prince William clash: expert
After battling cancer and watching her father-in-law battle the disease while performing royal duties, Kate Middleton has one thing to look forward to – her 43rd birthday.
On Thursday, the Princess of Wales will celebrate the special day in private with her loved ones, while the public hails the royal family as the crown jewel of the British monarchy. But the future queen has already proven she’s a valuable asset to “The Firm,” several royal experts told Fox News Digital.
“King Charles is extremely fond and proud of his daughter-in-law,” British television presenter and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News Digital. “I believe he is one of her biggest fans. They share similar passions and he recognizes her wow factor, empathy and resilience. She is focused on solutions and is a sure glue between Prince William and King Charles III.”
Father and son don’t always see eye to eye, Chard added.
Robert Jobson previously argued in his book “Catherine, Princess of Wales” that the king “raised concerns” with his eldest son about his use of the helicopter with Kate and their three children. William, the heir to the throne, has expressed a strong desire to fly with his entire family.
Not only did this spark a tense disagreement, but the king, 76, handed William, an experienced pilot, “an official document acknowledging the risks involved and taking full responsibility for his actions”.
“She is focused on solutions and is the sure glue between Prince William and King Charles III. Father and son don’t always see eye to eye.”
Despite the disagreement, the book also claimed the monarch praised his beloved daughter-in-law for being a “stabilising influence” on William, particularly in his relationship with the monarch.
A source told Jobson that Kate is “someone who always tries to see both sides of every argument” and is “emotionally mature”.
“I think so [king] he understands that Catherine is a good influence on the whole family,” the courtier said. “He loves and truly appreciates everything she does.”

Christopher Andersen, author “King,” told Fox News Digital that Kate was always “tough-headed, realistic,” which was the secret to her survival in the royal family.
The king was quick to notice.
“Through their shared battle against cancer, Kate and the King have strengthened their bond in ways neither could have imagined,” he explained. “King Charles was so impressed by her grace and determination that he bestowed a special honor on Kate, making her an honorary royal companion, an unmistakable sign of his faith in her ability to help carry out the monarchy.”
“But other than that, the king won’t be giving Kate advice about being the future queen,” Andersen noted. “It would simply give oxygen to the idea that it might not be long, and Charles III. remain on the throne for years to come.
“For much the same reason, Camilla hasn’t felt compelled to talk to Kate about what it’s like to be queen. While Charles is fond of Kate, the best that can be said about the current queen and the next is that they have a grudging respect for each other.”
Chard described how Kate is known for her hands-on approach to raising her children, including her eldest Prince George, 11, who is second in line. This also earned praise from the monarch as he continues his cancer treatment.

“Princess Catherine is the heart of her family – family is her priority and, as such, the Waleses are a close-knit and loving family,” Chard said. “She helped revolutionize royal parenting.”
Chard continued, “King Charles is comforted by the fact that For Princess Catherine, family comes first and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The welfare of future heirs is paramount. He knows that when the time comes, she will seamlessly transform into the perfect future queen.”
Due to her devotion to family and recent health battle, Kate is expected to take it easy on royal duties. Kate announced in September that she finished chemotherapy.
Sources said British DailyMail that Kate “just won’t go back to work the same way as before” her cancer diagnosis. While her diary in 2025 does not include extensive overseas tours, she is expected to appear at major royal events, including Trooping the Colour.
“Kate has always put family first, and now more than ever she will focus on her children,” Andersen said. “… In the meantime, Kate will make her presence known around the country, devoting as much time as she can to the British charities that mean the most to her.”
“King Charles is disappointed that he is unable to carry out all his duties of state, although he is grateful that Prince William is a perfect stand-in when needed,” Chard said. “This allowed Prince William to successfully take center stage as a true statesman. It also reminded and prepared the Prince and Princess of Wales for their future roles as King and Queen.”

“I believe Princess Catherine has given careful thought to her future role,” Chard continued. “She has made it clear that family is a priority, but she will continue to manage public expectations. She understands that people love her and that it is important to be seen around the world. However, I think it is also important to remember that the public will have decades to see Princess Catherine in key events.”
Chard noted that Kate had “years of training” as the future queen, “learning and absorbing invaluable advice” from the late Queen Elizabeth II. The longest-lived English monarch died in 2022 at the age of 96.
But on Thursday, the focus is on celebrating Kate’s big day, something both Charles and William can agree on. British royal expert Hilary Fordwich she told Fox News Digital that the day will be focused on the children as William, a “not very brilliant cook”, tries to make breakfast for her.

“In terms of the type of queen she wants to be, Princess Catherine has never wavered from her core beliefs – family first,” Fordwich said. “This includes, more broadly, all of her new royal family and commitment to duty. Both sets of values will make her a most wonderful and respected queen.”
