Jos Buttler holds Tilak Varma responsible for England’s defeat in the Chennai T20i
England National Cricket Team-led Jos Buttler went head-to-head with Suryakumar Yadav-led National Cricket Team in the second T20I match series at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Saturday 25th January.
Jos Buttler’s England team lost a thrilling T20I match by 2 wickets against Team India to go down 0-2 in the series ahead of the third T20I, to be played in Rajkot.

England put up a good fight for India in the 2nd t20i
The visitors were invited to bat first in the second game after losing the toss. Jos Buttler once again led from the front with the bat as the rest of the batsmen struggled to get going.
England eventually managed to post 165/9 on the board, despite none of the batters playing big knocks, as almost everyone came up with small but contributions.
Defending the total, England’s bowlers brought their best and troubled the Indian batting from the very beginning. They picked up wickets at regular intervals and took the match to the last.
The visitors, however, could not dismiss Tilak Varma, who played a superb knock of 72* runs to hand England their second loss of the series.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Jos Buttler praised Tilak Varma for his heroics and said he took the game away from England. He said:
“It was a great game. All credit to Tilak for getting over the line. We created a lot of chances, really aggressive, pushed them really close.”
Jos Buttler further said that he was happy with his team’s performance with the bat and hoped that the players would improve their game.
“Really happy with the way we started with the bat. We lost a few wickets but the aggression was there. Really happy with the style we played. Lots of positives. The way Jamie Smith bowled was fantastic. How did England perform in the 1st T20I against India in Kolkata?
England suffered defeat in the 1st T20I against India at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, losing by seven wickets from 43 balls. Despite a solid performance from captain Jos Buttler, their overall batting and bowling effort was poor.
Batting first, England managed to post a total of 132 runs in their 20 overs. Jos Buttler was the top performer with a brilliant 68 Off 44 balls, showing his class with eight fours and two sixes.
However, he received little support from the rest of the lineup. Phil Salt, Ben Duckett and Liam Livingstone fell cheaply, unable to cope with India’s disciplined bowling.
Mystery Spinner Varun Chakravarthy (3/23) had the internet spinning about England’s middle order, doc Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh Notched with two wickets each.
Defending 132, England’s bowling attack struggled to make early inroads. Although Jofra Archer bowled effectively, picking up two shots, including Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, the rest of the bowlers were expensive.
