“It’s something other people have to do,” he told the paper. “We’re talking about something that’s long gone in my life. So it’s for other people. It’s what I feel.”

The actor was asked if he worried that his relationship would overshadow his career, which includes award-winning films like “The Favourite”.

“I tried to focus only on controlling what I could control,” he said, “and, from the beginning, I tried to focus on the things that were meaningful to me: friends, family, work, of course. So the noise outside of that, I think that I did what a lot of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is to just try to ignore it.”

He continued, “If you don’t do that, and if you let all these other things in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty f—-ed.”

“The relationship has just run its course,” the insider added, explaining that the former couple’s divorce was the reason why Alwyn was not spotted at any of Swift’s “Eras Tour” shows.

Alwyn, like many of Swift’s exes, has been the subject of intense scrutiny from her fans, who have combed through her lyrics, particularly her latest album, “Department of Tortured Poets”, for clues about the rise and fall of a relationship.

Earlier this year, the 33-year-old spoke with Sunday Times style about the intense attention of the public.

“So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, the press, where it’s then dissected, speculated upon, twisted beyond recognition,” Alwyn said. “And the truth is, until that last point, there will always be a gap between what is known and what is said.”

“I’ve come to terms with it,” Alwyn added.

He also told the outlet that he and Swift had “mutually” made the decision to “keep the more private details of our relationship private.”

“It’s never been something that can be turned into a commodity and I see no reason for that to change now,” Alwyn said. “And, look, this was also just over a year ago, and I feel fortunate to be in a really great place in my life, professionally and personally. I feel really good.”

During that interview, Alwyn refused to answer whether he was still in contact with Swift or the status of their life together.
