Coldplay shouts out to Jasprit Bumrah
During Coldplay’s performance at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai, as part of their “Music Of The Spheres World Tour,” Martin took the moment to recognize local sporting heroes, including Bumrah. The band’s gesture highlighted Bumrah’s world fame and his status as one of India’s most celebrated cricketers.
At the concert, Martin not only praised Bumrah but also played a replay of his famous yorker to England Ollie Pope during the 2024 Test series, which drew raucous cheers from fans. The accolade was part of Coldplay’s ongoing series of five concerts in India from January 18-26.
Earlier at their opening show at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Martin jokingly mentioned that Bumrah was backstage and asked for a 15-minute break in the concert to send him a few deliveries. However, the next day, Martin admitted that it was a tongue-in-cheek joke and later called Bumrah “No. 1 in the world” while showing a video of Bumrah dismissing Pope.
