The Israeli Restaurant in Brooklyn was destroyed over the weekend in what New York Mayor Eric Adams calls a “Contemptuous act of anti -Semitism.”
The New York Police Directorate told Fox News Digital that his hate crime group explored after the phrase “Israel steals the culture” and “Genocid cuisine” found on the outside of Miriam early yesterday morning.
“This was a desperate act of anti -Semitism in Miriam, loved Israeli restaurant In Park Slope, “Adams wrote on X, sharing pictures of the restaurant front door covered with red.
“As the mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population outside Israel, I am particularly cordially discerning this evil act. Do not go wrong, NYPD explores and will consider them responsible,” he added.

The restaurant said “unfortunately vandalized with hate messages,” but “we refuse to let this darken our spirit.”
“Miriam stands for inclusion and unity and gathering people through a common love of delicious food and warm hospitality. We celebrate the different flavors of the Mediterranean, where cultures intertwine and share stories,” ” She wrote on Instagram. “We will still be a safe place where everyone is welcome. Join us in spreading love, not hatred.”
Miriam’s second location in Manhattan’s neighborhood of the upper west side was destroyed in 2022, according to New York Post.
Owner Rafi Hasid decided to open a place in Brooklyn on Sunday with messages still painted on the glass, the newspaper reported. Three masked persons were reportedly seen who were targeting the property at about 3am.
“I want people to see him. I don’t want to wash him right away. People should see … that things like that happen,” Hasid told the post.

Chuck Schumer Senate Leader Leader And Ambassador Ritchie Torres, both of the New York Democrats, posted messages to Miriam support after the incident.
“Tonight I visited Miriam, a restaurant in Brooklyn who experienced a desperate vandalism last night. I met the owner, workers and their patrons,” I wrote Schumer on X. “I told them to stop with them and vandalized the restaurant in the restaurant since the owner was directly anti -Semitism.

“Jewish hatred will not find refuge in the city of New York,” Torres added. “Hate crime against the Jewish community is a crime from hatred against all of us.”
