Ipswich are chasing Igor Jesus’ £15m “dream” upgrade
Similar to the first transitional period Ipswich Town have found themselves involved in the post-promotion, this January window looks set to be a busy one for the relegation-threatened side.
After all, this long moon gives them a fantastic opportunity to recruit fresh blood that can help them in their ongoing quest to stay put Premier League.
Ipswich have already signed Ben Godfrey on loan strengthen the defence, with rumors now focusing on an exciting Suffolk side adding more firepower up top.
Ipswich are looking for a striker
It looks like Godfrey won’t be the only confirmed signing in early January, with Jaden Philogene reportedly set to join the building for A fee of £20m from Aston Villa to give McKenna’s men a bold option on the right wing.
However, Ipswich is not done there, as the Premier League outfit are still in the hunt for Middlesbrough sharpshooter Emmanuel Latte Latha, despite GIVEMESPORT recently revealed that Leeds United are leading the way in a bid to land the clinical Ivorian.
Whites are now thinking about housing a 15 million pounds try to land Boro number nine, but Ipswich will not be fazed by this new development, hoping the lure of top-flight football could encourage Latte Lath to call Portman Road his next home before the February deadline.
Latte Lath could form a devastating attacking duo with Philogene if a deal is agreed, with the wily winger a superstar in the Championship with Hull City last season and now set to – like his Boro counterpart – take the division above by storm.
What Latte Lath could offer Ipswich
A far cry from Ipswich potentially recklessly throwing money away Igor Jesus to come from Botafogo for £30m, the Tractor Boys would get better value for their money with Latte Latha, given that he is already a potent striker in the English game.
It would all depend on whether the 26-year-old can handle that progression though, but when you look at his goalscoring numbers in the EFL to date.

Latte Lath’s 26 strikes for Michael Carrick’s men went into the bread and butter of the second tier, with ten league goals coming this season 2024/25. to alert teams to his services.
Jesus is in the meantime scored only eight times in 31 games for his current side, while there is less risk involved in signing Latte Lath given his lower price tag, his huge numbers to date playing on English shores mean he could fit in well in McKenna’s squad as another option away from Liam Delapa who is just leading the line.

Equally, as indicated above, Latte Lath is also tops in terms of goals per 90, while also seemingly offering a great physical presence as a first line of defence, as shown by his superior record for tackles, interceptions and aerial duels won.
With the pair operating in similar level leagues – with the Championship and Brazil’s Serie A ranked among the ‘next 14 competitions’, outside of Europe’s top five leagues – it illustrates what an upgrade the Boro man could have over his Botafogo counterpart.
Likewise, Philogene will be praying he finally gets his chance to impress in the big moment at Ipswich, after being rarely used at Villa Park by Unai Emery.
Indeed, the former Hull ace has only been thrown in from the start in league action this season twicedespite torching the Tigers’ second tier last campaign.
There was, of course, this outrageous strike that went viral for looping over the head of the Rotherham United goalkeeper, registered by Philogene 12 goals and six assists total in the championship.
With a place more open on the right wing, with Wes Burns currently the only fit option, the Villa reserve could become a major spark in the first team on a move to Suffolk.
Latte Lath – which was once described as a “a dream to play with” from Boro team-mate Luke Ayling – will hope to get a fair share of first-team opportunities if he joins, and the two can potentially make Ipswich an even bigger attacking threat ahead of the tough games ahead near the bottom of the league.
