India reveal squad for Women’s ODI series against Ireland; Smriti Mandhana lead

India The women’s cricket team has announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Irelandstarting on January 10 in Rajkot. With key players rested, the squad sees a few changes and new faces, offering an opportunity for fresh talent to step in and make an impact. This change in the squad reflects India’s strategy to give other players an opportunity to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience in international cricket.

Key players are missing

Omission Harmanpreet Kaur and Renuka Singh from the squad comes as both players have been given time off to sort out their workload ahead of upcoming international commitments. The teams will also miss notable players like Arundhati Reddy, Shafali Vermaand Radha Yadavwho continue to remain on the sidelines. While their absence will be felt, the squad for this series reflects the depth of Indian talent, offering new opportunities for others to shine.

Smriti Mandhana to host Women in Blue

Smriti Mandhan will lead the Indian women’s team for the ODI series against Ireland. Mandhana has been one of India’s most consistent players in international cricket and has shown excellent leadership skills while captaining in the absence of Harmanpreet. Deepti Sharma she will support Mandhana as co-captain, bringing her experience to the leadership group. With the added responsibility, Mandhana will look to lead the team to a strong series win.

New faces in the team

The series will also see inclusion Raghvi Bust and Sayali Satgharewho were invited to the composition. Bist made her T20I debut in December 2024 against West Indies in Navi Mumbai, where she had notable performances with scores of 5 and 31 in her two matches. Meanwhile, Satghare, who got India’s call-up for the ODI against New Zealand in October 2024 but didn’t get a chance to play, will barely make her debut in this series. Both players add depth to the team and will be happy to contribute to the team’s success.

Improve, Practice Rawal and Tanuja Kanwarwho both made their debuts for India during the West Indies ODI in Vadodara, have retained their places in the squad. Their continued presence shows their potential and value in the squad as they look to build on their early experiences at international level.
