House prices in the UK fell for the first time since March

LONDON (Reuters) – British house prices unexpectedly fell last month for the first time since March despite ending the year higher than in December 2023, data from mortgage lender Halifax showed on Tuesday.

Halifax said house prices fell 0.2% in December after rising 1.2% in November, and were 3.3% higher year-on-year – less than the 4.2% rise forecast in Reuters surveys among economists.
