What happened at the 2024 majors?
Scottie Scheffler won the Masters with a four-shot victory over Ludvig Åberg at Augusta National to give the world No. 1 his second Green Jacket in three years.
At the PGA Championship in May, Xander Schauffele secured his first major victory, his dramatic one-shot victory over Bryson DeChambeau made golf history as his 21-under score set a new men’s 72-hole record.
DeChambeau then won the US Open for the second time after a dramatic one-stroke victory at Pinehurst No. 2 over Rory McIlroy, who bogeyed three of his last four holes to extend his wait for a fifth major win.
Schauffel then secured his second major title of the year by winning the Open at Royal Troon, finishing two strokes ahead of Justin Rose and Billy Horschel.
Nelly Korda won the first women’s tournament of the year, winning The Chevron Championship to give the American her fifth consecutive LPGA Tour triumph, tying the records held by Annika Sorenstam (2005) and Nancy Lopez (1978).
The victory marked the American’s second major title after winning her first at the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship in Johns Creek, Georgia, while Juka Sašo won the US Women’s Open and Amy Yang she made a long-awaited breakthrough at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
As the action moved to Europe, Ayaka Furue produced a final-hole eagle to capture his first major title after a dramatic finish to the Amundi Evian Championship.
Lidija Ko ended her eight-year major drought by storming through the star rankings to claim a dramatic victory at the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews.
