FSG bargain Liverpool move for “unpredictable” star
Rumors are rife now that the season has moved into January, when the winter transfer market is open for business and clubs are reviewing their menus as they determine whether deals are worthwhile.
For Liverpoolthere is no news regarding the incoming department. Arne Slott is happy with his first-place team, and while there is a clear need for a new left back, expect a shift in that area during the offseason.
Six points clear at the top Premier LeagueThe Reds are focused on silverware and could launch a winter bid if the right opportunity presents itself.
Maybe it’s just that.
Liverpool are planning new strikers
According to Football InsiderLiverpool are planning a move for Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj-Moussa, with the 22-year-old impressing in the Dutch Eredivisie this term.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.
Feyenoord, Slot’s old ground, welcomed the Algerian winger at the start of the season after Slot had previously failed to sign him. He has gone from strength to strength this year, confirming the intrigues of the Liverpool manager, and could even be an excellent back-up option for the powerful Mohamed Salah.
Slot dispelled the rumors about Federico Chiesa potential exit from Anfieldsix months after his an eye-catching £12.5m arrival from Juventus.
Despite this, Chiesa has only started once for Liverpool this season amid frustrating fitness issues, and a player like Hadj-Moussa could be perfect to sustain the Merseysiders’ exceptional campaign.
Why Liverpool should pounce on Hadj-Moussa
Feyenoord have snapped up the clinical left-footer for a nominal fee and would thus make a big profit if the suitors meet their reported asking price of £10m – FSG likes to bargain and that could be something that attracts them.
He is young and plays with an unbridled greed that tempts Liverpool to submit a formal bid, starting his campaign with Feyenoord on the fringes but growing in stature after showing his clinical quality.
Indeed, Hadj-Moussa could he scored only six goals in 19 games in all competitions this term, but each was announced in November or later. Talent scout Jacek Kulig he even described it as “one of Europe’s most pleasant surprises” this season.
Given that he has scored three goals in five Champions League games, there is clearly a level of quality that could lift Liverpool’s system, and for Hadj-Moussa it might actually be best for Salah to extend his stay at the club, as he could absorb the rich fruits as his replacement for the next few years.
According to FBrefthe Algerian star ranks in the top 2% of position players who have had goals without a penalty in this Champions League period (1.06) and in the top 15% for progressive transfers (6.00) per 90 minutes, making a compelling case for his chances among Liverpool’s talented strikers.
A carry is considered progressive if the ball is moved towards the opponent’s goal at least 10 yards from its starting point or carried into the penalty area.
Equally, he is also counted among top 5% for dribbling (successful take-ons per 90) among those in his position in Europe’s next top 14 leagues, further emphasizing that sense of unpredictability.
There is actually a sort of similarity with Salah that could see him emulate the Egyptian sensation, as he would arrive before achieving greatness with a natural flair for goalscoring.
Hadj-Moussa – who is Dutch legend Ruud Gullit hailed as an “unpredictable player” – is blessed with a quick and versatile attacking style, and his directness could serve him well when operating as a focal point, swerving down the right.
Note that it is also composed. He is self-confident and sure of his quality. Sofascore record that his three-goal campaign in Europe’s elite competition is yet to be marred by one missed big opportunity, speaking of a clinical edge that may already be ahead of certain members of Slott’s front line. No name.
It’s hard to articulate how good Salah has been this season, with the 32-year-old scoring 21 goals and 17 assists in 27 games for your club. That doesn’t tell the whole story, but it paints a relevant picture.
Liverpool arguably over-rely on the power of their talisman, but that hasn’t derailed the campaign so far. Liverpool might feel in charge of the Premier League, but what about the dangerous business end of the Champions League? What about the FA Cup?
There is enough for the Redmen to feel capable of wading deep down any current, but with Chiesa’s unreliability, it could be crucial for an additional role in the Hadj-Mousse mould. Think back to Takumi Minamino in 2021/22, whose goals in the Carabao Cup proved invaluable in winning the competition as they struggled on all other fronts.

Salah is one of the top goalscorers in Premier League history and to say that this relative unknown Hadj-Moussa, who is only two months into his first proper purple position, could be his successor is a pretty bold claim.
However, he is gifted with similar traits that could allow him to operate within similar parameters as Liverpool’s biggest threat, and if he were to settle under the Egyptian’s umbrella, protected by the keen scrutiny that would be placed alongside a large role in Slott’s squad, there might just be a chance to become the main player.
Hadj-Moussa has been on Sloto’s radar before and Liverpool fans have been treated to some expert tactical qualities in recent months. Let’s trust his judgment and bring him to serve under Salah’s wing.
