The election of President-elect Donald Trump Defense Department chief Pete Hegseth faced a Senate debate on Tuesday as lawmakers decide whether to vote to support the nominee.

Hegseth faced intense questioning from Democrats during the House Armed Services Committee hearing, including his previous comments related to women serving in military combat roles, and was interrupted by protesters who at times disrupted the hearing.

Trump nominated Hegseth in November, just days after his decisive election victory over Vice President Harris, praising him “as a Warrior for the troops and for the country.”Read more
