First-class pretenders try to grab free drinks with ‘seat’ hack

Seat squathers are taking their “hack” to a new level by not only hoping to steal a better seat on the plane, but trying to snag free drinks in the process.
Flight passengers they do whatever it takes to get you a free “pre-flight drink”, even if it means taking someone’s seat for a few seconds.
A Reddit user shared the story of a flight attendant’s encounter with a cheating passenger beverage system posing as a first class passenger.

The user was on a Delta Air Lines flight from Providence, Rhode Island to Atlanta, Georgia on the 2nd.
Then a Reddit user saw two women ” [aboard] unfortunate” and sit in the front row.

“They drop their bags and settle in. Moments later, a woman comes on the plane and lets them know one of those seats is hers.”
The person added: “They quickly stand up, smile and say, ‘We’re newbies.’ “The flight attendant asks which horn they are in and they say 24. They leave their bags and travel back to their queue.”
After the awkward encounter happened in front of the passengers, a flight attendant told a Reddit user about a similar circumstance earlier flight.
This seat, however, wanted something in addition to the upgraded seat.
The flight attendant told the story of how “people sat down, received their pre-flight alcohol, and then he said, ‘I’ll just go Say hello to my sister In the back of the plane, “and took off with a free drink apparently not to come back,” a Reddit user wrote.

Flight passengers and a Reddit user went on to say that the women squatting in the front row may have hoped to do the same.
“Maybe they were totally lucky that woman didn’t get on the flight right after them,” the poster said on social media. “Either that or they thought they were flying Swanky Southwest Flight and could sit anywhere. “
Fox News Digital has reached out to the Redditor for comment.
Other Reddit users jumped into the conversation, calling the behavior shameful and “disgusting.”
“I honestly refuse to believe that people would resort to such a low level move to get ‘free’ alcohol,” commented one user. “AND potion before disposal It’s not even that great! “

This is not the first time someone has used first class drinks before boarding Just to return to their actual seat.

Another Redditor posted on the “R/Delta” forum, commenting on the first class seat experience.
The passenger was upgraded to first class because the original passengers did not show up. When the Reddit user arrived at the new seat assignment, it was found that the woman was sitting still.

The user then claimed that “this lady just saw an open seat in first class and decided to see if she could get away with sitting there.”

The squat seat trend has been taking off for the past few months – and a controversial attempt to upgrade plane seats is frustrating other fliers.
Instead of asking for a seat or trying to self-upgrade, Gary Leff, a Texas-based travel industry expert and author of the “View From The Wing” blog, suggested that people try their luck by asking to switch seats with someone else on board.

“Have a compelling reason that resonates with the person you’re looking for,” Leff told Fox News Digital.
He said that if the traveler has “something decent to offer in return, the person is not so difficult to give you what he wants.”

Etiquette experts also weighed in on the trend, sharing tips on how best to communicate with in-flight squatters.

California etiquette expert Rosalinda Randall said it’s best to approach the seating scenario calmly and in good faith.

“If the Squatter seat refuses to move, don’t engage; don’t engage the other occupants of the rally,” Randall told Fox News Digital.
