After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bowl first, hoping to restrict Nigeria to a modest total. Nigeria made 65/6 in a rain-shortened 13-over match. Lucky Piety was the man of the match with the bat, scoring 18 off 22 balls, supported by 19 off 25 balls from Lilian Uda. Late fireworks from Omosigho Eguakun, who hit 9 off just 4 balls, added valuable runs. New Zealand fails to reach the target

In pursuit of 66, the New Zealand batting line-up faltered under the pressure. Anika Todd anchored the innings with 19 of 27 and Tash Wakelin contributed 18 of 18, but the team they fell agonizingly short with 63/6 in their allotted 13 overs. The Nigerian bowlers, led by Lucky Piety (1/8) and Usen Peace (1/5), maintained a solid line-up to successfully defend a low total.
