Everton are closing in on Moyes’ first signing
To be fair, this was an eventful week in Everton.
It was announced on Thursday, just hours before the FA Cup tie at home to Peterborough United Sean Dyche was dismissed, leaving Leighton Baines and club captain Séamus Coleman on duty, overseeing an unspectacular 2-0 win.
Amazing, this is the first time Premier League the club fired its manager on the day of the match, before the start of the match, in 30 years.
Then on Saturday morning it was confirmed David Moyes is back, 13 years after leaving Merseyside for Manchester Unitedafter overseeing a huge 518 matches during his first spell in charge.
With the Toffees currently 16th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone, reinforcements are needed, but could the first coming of the second Moyes era be inevitable?
Everton want to strengthen their attacking line
According to the report of TEAMtalk, Everton ‘in talks’ with Olympique Lyonnais regarding the signing of Ernesto Nuamah.
Meanwhile, reports from France on social networks they claim that the deal is just ‘one step’ with ‘an agreement almost reached between different parties’.
Numah joined Lyon from the Danish Superligaen Nordsjælland for the reported 30 million euros 2023, suggesting the Blues are unlikely to get him on the cheap.
However, as he noted Colin Millar, Matt Slater and Matt Woosnam from Athleticles Gones are temporarily relegated from the league Ligue 1 “after an audit of their finances”, informed that they must “satisfactorily improve their financial situation before the end of this season”.
As a result, it looks like Nuamah will be sacrificed, although no Everton fan should consider this a done deal until he officially puts pen to paper.
Focus transfer
Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.
This is because, in summer, Nuamah he was reportedly on the verge of joining Fulham, only to “disappear” midway through a medical, after breaking down in tears, declaring his love for OL and refusing to move to West London, with American owner John Texter subsequently forced to send a letter of apology to the Cottagers.
To be fair, the Toffees will be hoping to avoid similar complications.
How Ernest Nuamah compares to Dwight McNeil
Commentator from Ghana George Addo Jnr on Twitter he describes his compatriot as “some talent”, with a journalist Owuraku Ampofo adding that he is a “fantastic dribbler”.
Wesley Mak of Opta’s The Analyst labeling him a “multifunctional striker” capable of playing anywhere across the front three, comparing him to West Ham Mohammed Kudusanother striker from Ghana who started his career at a world famous club Straight to Dream Academy.
Well, given that Everton are the second lowest scorers in the Premier League this season, in the table bottom for xGThe Blues need all the attacking reinforcements they can get, but how do they compare to Nuamah their joint top scorer Dwight McNeil?

The table shows that these two wingers are very different stylistically.
McNeil is much more of a creator, therefore he collected significantly more assists and expected assists, while last season only eight players in European leagues were in the “top five” put more crosses but his 229; Dyche-ball at its best.
Meanwhile, Nuamah is much more of a dribbler, recording more take-ons and progressive transfers, and the Ghanaian is significantly more of a goal threat, scored 15 goals during his last campaign off Nordsjælland, on target against such famous opponents as Paris Saint-Germain and Eintracht Frankfurt since moving to Lyon.
A carry is considered progressive if the ball is moved towards the opponent’s goal at least 10 yards from its starting point or carried into the penalty area.
Well, considering Everton have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last ten Premier League games, failing to find the back of the net in a huge run 39% of the league games that Dyche has taken over, Nuamah is sure to be a welcome addition for all Evertons.
