The eurozone economy unexpectedly stagnated in the fourth quarter, increasing pressure on the European Central Bank to reduce interest rates more aggressively.
The lack of growth in the quarter compared to an expansion forecast of 0.1 percent by economists who surveyed Reuters and 0.4 percent of growth in the third quarter.
For 2024 eurozone economy, it spread by 0.7 percent, according to data that Eurostat published on Thursday.
Data come only a few hours before the ECB is expected to reduce its reference interest rate by a quarter at 2.75 percent, which is the lowest level since the beginning of 2023.
