DP World Tour: Brandon Robinson Thompson runs at the Bahrain Championship after threatening the historic circle | Golf news
Brandon Robinson Thompson threatened to capture the second round of ’59 ‘in the history of DP World Tour on the way to the triple leadership at the Bahrain Bapco Energies Championship.
Two eagles and three birds took Robinson Thompson to the 29th year at the Royal Golf Club and running of five birds in six holes of 12. They left him that the bird had spoiled the last to break 60 barriers.
However, after missing the navigable path and the green on 443 yards for four, the 32-year-old lowered his only shot of the day and had to settle for a 11-floor-Par 61, setting a new course record.
“I didn’t really imagine it this morning when it was raining and there was a forecast for super strong winds, so I’m very happy to go to the beginning,” said Robinson Thompson.
“A little sour taste in the mouth (with a bumbered 18), I won’t lie, but I’m quite a lot of stake.”
Asked when he first thought about achieving 59 Oliver Fisher 59 in Portuguese Master 2018, Robinson-Thompson added: “After about nine holes, and then hit him for four meters at 10.
“Unfortunately, I missed it, but it was just a lot of good decision -making and execution.
“I wouldn’t say it was perfect in long ways, but I was smart when I had to be and hit several shots at 25, 30, 35 feet and fortunately made several of them.
“I think it’s my lowest circle as a professional, let alone on the DP world tour, so it has to be worse as the first or second career), except maybe Sunday to close the event last year for the challenge of the tour last year. “
Englishman Callum Tarren was the closest challenger of Robinson Thompson to eight under Par, after 64, with 64, with Scottish Richie Ramsay, Spanish Pablo Larrazabal, French Martin Couvra and Finnish Tapi Pulkkanen all the floor.
Former Ryder Cup players Ross Fisher and Rafa Cabrera Bello both in the group at five and seventh, while defending champions Dylani Fittellija Kardono two under 70. Thorbjorn Olesen-Najvishi players on the field-Come on three-too 75.
