Devin Haney is holding an open practice in London today

Devin Haney will practice in front of his British fans today at an open training session at 14:00 in London, England. He has no fight scheduled.

Haney in London: looking for a boost for the UK

It’s a strange move by Dev because he’s not fighting a Brit; he’s coming off an embarrassing loss, and his stock is low. He seems desperate to make this move, but it shows where he is in his career.

It will look bad for Haney if a few fans and members of the media show up to watch him practice. However, quite a number of British media will probably turn up to be interviewed.

Some believe the move is to build Haney’s brand overseas in hopes Turki Al-Shiekh will pick him to fight on one of his Riyadh Season cards. By training in London, former two-division world champion Devin will gain exposure in the British media and potentially be noticed by the Turks.

If he wants to add Devin to one of his cards, he could fight him against a formidable opponent, such as Richardson Hitchins, Liam Paro or Jaron Ennis. It’s doubtful that Haney would agree to fight either of those guys because he wouldn’t want to risk his rematch with Ryan Garcia.

Haney’s A-list status lost

In the US, Haney’s stock fell due to a combination of his loss to Ryan Garcia and his decision to file a lawsuit and stay out of the ring, without a fight, for a year. The way his career looks right now, it doesn’t look good for him.

He is no longer an A-list fighter due to that loss, and his chances of returning to his former high-status position are slim. There is no weak champion like the ones Haney defeated to win his two division world titles.
