Details emerge about Antioch HS shooter’s ‘highly troubling’ writings


Online texts linked to gunman in Nashville, Tennessee Antioch High School they include racist and anti-Semitic content, photos of guns and praise for mass murderers, the report said.

Local, state and federal investigators are combing through files as they try to figure out why the 17-year-old opened fire in his High school in the Nashville area Wednesday, killing Joseelin Core Escalante, 16, and wounding a 17-year-old boy before taking his own life with a gunshot wound.

“Homicide detectives along with their law enforcement partners in the MNPD and federal/state agencies are investigating highly troubling online texts and social media posts related to [the teen] as they work to determine the motive behind it [the teen]A shooting occurred in the Antioch High School cafeteria this morning,” the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said.

“The investigation has so far not established a connection between [the teen] and two shooting victims. It is possible that they were hit by his random firing in the cafeteria,” the police added.

The texts, posted on a social media account allegedly operated by the gunman identified by police, include an Antioch High School layout, photos of a gun and an image of a flyer from a neo-Nazi white supremacist group that visited Nashville last summer. according to WTVF.

The station described the material as anti-Semitic, and the attacker reportedly said he had been thinking about violence for several months.

The material also included an image of the shooter who killed three children and three staff members at Covenant School in Nashville in 2023 and praise for other mass shooters, WTVF reported.

Nashville police said during a news conference that the alleged gunman, who was armed with a handgun, fired multiple shots at Antioch High School on Wednesday.

Online streaming platform Kick said the attack was “partially live streamed” and that it “quickly banned the account and removed the video.”

“Violence has no place at KICK. We are actively cooperating with the police and taking all appropriate steps to support their investigation,” the statement said.

The MNPD said two school resource officers assigned to Antioch High School were in another part of the building when shots rang out.

“They rushed to the cafeteria and arrived right after [the teen] he killed himself,” the police added.

“On behalf of this entire police department, I extend my deepest condolences to the students, parents and staff of Antioch High,” Chief John Drake said in a statement. “Our officers and counselors will work to be a part of the healing process in the days and weeks ahead.”
