Dani Olmo’s agent doubled down on speculation about a move away from Barcelona
Dani Olmo’s agent insists he remains solely committed to Barcelona as they battle to sign him for the second half of the season.
Since it was only reported as a temporary emergency measure in summer, Olmo saw his place in the Barcelona team by La Liga Dec. 31, with league rules emphasizing that players cannot re-register after their initial contract expires.
That opened the door to a move away from Barcelona, with Olmo’s contract including an option to leave on a free transfer if he is not registered, but agent Andy Bara previously confirmed Olmo has no desire to leave.
Despite the fact that Olmo’s registration has now formally expired, Bara has once again pledged his commitment to the Blaugrana.
“This is a stressful situation for Dani as it would be for any other player,” Bara said GIVEMESPORT. “But he is a great player and person, he tries to be calm. Of course, Dani is a winner and he likes to play games, not watch them!
“We are not negotiating with any club. Dani is negotiating [a] Barcelona player and wants to be a Barcelona player. He made a great effort in his life to be in Barcelona. It was his wish for a long time. Barcelona is the first and last option! Dani, his father, the family, me, we are not thinking about other options.”
Among the options that Olmo has available are free transfers to similar ones Manchester United and Manchester Cityand both are tipped to take advantage of the uncertainty in Catalonia. When asked about links to the Premier League duo, Bara instead reiterated his own believes Barcelona will find a way to register the 26-year-old.
“Of course, the best players are when the players are free, but emotions are also important,” Bara continued. “We have never made any career decision because of money. Dani plays football because he loves the game, he made great efforts to be in Barcelona. I am also happy to have Dani in Barcelona, he is one of the best players in the world in one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“We respect the president [Joan] Laporta and [sporting director] Children. They tried very hard to bring Dani last summer. We like their project, it is big for the future, one of the best in the world in the coming years. We fully believe that Barcelona will win all the titles in the future as they did during the Messi era. The player, the family, me. We all wanted Dani to be in Barcelona.
“To be honest, I feel calm. It might seem strange, but I believe in the president Laporta, Dec and I feel that he will find a solution for Dani. It is a huge club.
“I believe that Barcelona will finalize everything and make it happen. La Liga should help them, instead of these reports that Dani is not available for the national team, but I am sure that he will be at Barca for many more years. He is happy at the club and Dani has the desire to be there .”
