Dani Olmo’s agent delivers a hammer blow to Manchester City and Manchester United
Dani Olmo still believes in the Barcelona project and is ready to avoid the interests of two clubs from Manchester, claims his agent Andy Bara.
Olmo’s temporary registration at financially troubled Barca ended on December 31, and La Liga rules dictate that a player cannot be registered twice in the same season.
Barca have taken the governing body to court – they believe La Liga is ‘incompetent’ – but have so far failed to overturn the ruling.
It leaves Olmo in limbo, but although he is technically eligible to leave on a free transfer, Bara insist the Spain international is committed to the Blaugrana.
He told Give Me Sport: “Dani is a Barcelona player and he wants to be a Barcelona player. He made a great effort in his life to be in Barcelona. It was his wish for a long time.
“Barcelona is the first and last option! Dani, his father, the family, me, we are not thinking about other options.”
New year, new challenges.
Let’s own 2025. 💪🔵🔴— FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) January 1, 2025
Local boy Olmo only has eyes for Barca
Olmo was born in the Catalan city of Terrassa and Bara says there is an emotional connection to Barcelona.
He said: “We have never made any career decision because of money. Dani plays football because he loves the game, he made great efforts to be in Barcelona.
“I am also happy to have Dani at Barcelona, he is one of the best players in the world at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“They made a big effort to bring Dani last summer. We like their project, it is big for the future, one of the best in the world in the coming years. We fully believe that Barcelona will win all the titles in the future as they have done during [Lionel] Messi era. The player, the family, me. We all wanted Dani to be in Barcelona.”
No interest in Manchester’s move
Olmo has been linked with both Manchester clubs, but Bara believes that Barca and La Liga will find a common language and a solution.
“To be honest, I feel calm,” Bara said.
“It might be strange, but I believe in the president [Joan] Laporta, Deco and I feel that they will find a solution for Dani. It’s a huge club.
“I believe that Barcelona will finalize everything and make it happen.
“La Liga should help them, instead of these reports that Dani is not available for the national team, but I’m sure he will be at Barca for many years to come. He is happy at the club and Dani has the desire to be there.”
If the matter is not resolved quickly, Olmo will not play in tomorrow’s Copa del Rey clash in Barbastra or the semi-final match of the Spanish Super Cup with Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
