Costco Teamsters vote to authorize strike across US, union says By Reuters

(Reuters) – The Teamsters said on Sunday that its members at U.S. retailer Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: ) had voted to strike across the country as they entered the final round of negotiations to reach a new contract before a Jan. 31 deadline.

The union, which represents more than 18,000 workers at Costco, said 85 percent of its members voted to authorize the strike.

“The vote is a direct result of the company’s continued failure to negotiate constructively,” the union said in a post on X, adding that the master agreement between the two sides expires on January 31.

Costco did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment outside regular business hours.

The final week of negotiations begins on January 20, the union announced in another X announcement.
