Congress will hear a bill to keep trans athletes out of women’s sports after a new set of rules is passed

The new Republican-controlled Congress will hear arguments on a bill that would seek to ban transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports in the first 100 days after the new rules package was voted in on Friday.

119. Congress approved a new package of rules after re-election Mike Johnson as the president of the House of Representatives. The proposal for a law on solving the issue of gender identity in sports was listed as a priority.

“A bill to amend the Education Amendment of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with title IX of such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized solely on the basis of the reproductive biology and genetics of the individual at birth,” first item in final section package status.

However, those efforts stalled over the past year, as Democrats withdrew their support for transgender inclusion amid massive backlash in a heated election year. Biden’s Department of Education even withdrew its proposed rule that would have prohibited states from banning transgender athletes from women’s and girls’ sports in late December after it was originally proposed in April 2023.

Now, after President-elect Trump and other prominent Republicans vowed to take action to ban transgender athletes from women’s sports before the election, there is a timetable for when that action could begin.

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., celebrated Friday’s vote and will introduce himself again account included in the rules package, the Law on the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports.

“The radical left is out of step with the American people when it comes to protecting women’s sports,” Steube said in a statement released Friday..

HOW TRANSGENDERITY IN SPORTS MOVED THE 2024 ELECTIONS AND IGNITED A NATIONAL COUNTERCULTURE

“Americans have been vocal that they don’t want men stealing women’s sports records, breaking into their daughters’ locker rooms, replacing female athletes on teams and taking away their daughters’ scholarship opportunities.

“My bills stand for truth, safety and reality: men have no place in women’s sports. Republicans promised to protect women’s sports, and under President Trump’s leadership, we will deliver on that promise.”

This bill ensures that biological women compete against other biological women in women’s sports operated or sponsored by a recipient of federal funds.

Other women’s activist groups also celebrated the impending legislative action on the issue after a year of numerous controversies involving transgender athletes competing and sharing locker rooms with biological women and girls across the country.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) issued a statement to Fox News Digital, praising the prioritization of the bill.

“There is no doubt that this should be a legislative priority in the 119th Congress. The Biden administration and society have launched an all-out assault on the dignity of women. Leadership must act now to restore sensitivity to public policy and immediately remove young women from the catastrophic fires of an awakened ideology.” CWA Legislative Strategist Macy Petty told Fox News Digital.

“No little girl should see the most powerful politicians in the world vote to put men in her locker room. Not in the land of the free. It’s cowardice and it’s disgusting. But it’s the reality of our political landscape. Last Congress, the House passed a similar bill on along strict party lines One party voted that women deserved private spaces, and one did not.”

The conservative advocacy group Heritage Action for America released a statement Friday celebrating the vote.

“Today, the House of Representatives also considered a package of rules for the 119th Congress that includes significant legislative priorities for heritage action, including the SAVE Act and the Protecting Women and Girls in Sports Act. Congress must now begin work on passing a bold conservative agenda. Congratulations to President Johnson on his re-election as Speaker of the House of Representatives and we look forward to working with all members of the 119th Congress to pass conservative politics wins,” the statement said.

AND national exit poll conducted by the CWA Legislative Action Committee found that 70% of moderate voters see the issue of “Donald Trump’s opposition to transgender boys and men playing women’s and women’s sports and transgender boys and men using women’s and women’s bathrooms” as important to them. .

And 6% said it was the most important issue of all, while 44% said it was “very important.”
