Colombia is turning to Venezuela for help as tens of thousands are displaced by guerrilla violence

With 80 people killed and 40,000 displaced by violence that has displaced the leftist National Liberation Army (ELN), fighting rival armed groups over drug-trafficking territory in northeastern Colombia, the Latin American country’s president, Gustavo Petro, arrived in Venezuela on Thursday to propose a “Joint Plan eradication of armed gangs on the border.
