Chicago officials confuse agents for secret Ice Services at Elementary School

Democratic Government Government JB Pritzker and Chicago Public School officials falsely claimed last week that US immigration and customs implementation agents (ICE) arrived at elementary school because President Donald Trump’s administration continues Enforcement surgery targeting violent illegal immigrant offenders in the city of the shrine.
Ice said his agents never arrived at the Hamline Elementary School, located in Chicago, the back of the yard, and The secret service us He announced a statement stating that their agents stopped on Friday to investigate the threat of an indefinite government official. Public schools in Chicago later acknowledged their mistake, citing “misunderstanding”, but confirmed that the school system would not coordinate with the federal immigration authorities.
In front of the local news on Friday, the Chief of Public School Education in Chicago Bogdan Chkumbova told reporters that earlier that morning agent ICE “appeared” in Hamline, but “School staff followed the cps established protocol”.
“They held Ice agents outside of school and contacted the CPS Law Department and the CPS Security Office for further instructions,” said Chkumbova. “Ice agents were not allowed at school and they were not allowed to talk to any students or staff members. Here are the DNA lines: our students and staff are safe…. We will not coordinate with immigration and customs agents.”

“We won’t open ourselves Our door for iceAnd we are here to protect our children and ensure that they have access to excellent education, “said Director of Hamline Natasha Orteg at the same press conference, according to a video published by WMAQ-TV at the back of the courtyard community.”
Governor entered the X.
“After a week of Republicans who sow fear and chaos, the first reports on raids in Chicago are in elementary school,” Pritzker wrote on Friday, sharing a chalkbeat.org report. “Targeting children and family separation is cruel and non -American.”
The post is dazed with a community note, reading: “This was not an ice, but an American secret service that visited the school for indefinite threats.”
There were no updates posted on Governor’s X account, and Fox News Digital contacted the Pritzker Comment Team on Monday, but they did not respond immediately.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson published his own statement on X, correcting the record and punishing officers who reinforced unproven demands.
“Chicago will always be a welcome city, and we will always support a welcome regulation, and we will always protect our students and every resident of our city,” Johnson, Democrat, wrote. “Today, the Secret Service Agents, not LEDs were present at John H. Hamline Elementary School. While people are worried about the increased implementation of immigration throughout the city, it is necessary that individuals do not spread unprotected information that cause fear throughout the city.”
Executive CEO of Public Schools in Chicago Pedro Martinez initially reiterated suspicious accusations on Friday. During the MSNBC appearance, he said that “individuals” came to Hamline “and presented the credentials and shared that they were from the ice.”
“Our staff followed the protocols. We are very clear,” Martinez said. “We have trained our directors, our security guards, any staff in the office … Making sure that we know that we should not share any information with anyone from the immigration department or ice. Unless they have a judicial order, they are even allowed to enter the building. ”

Ice said he was not involved in meeting. In a statement received by Fox News Digital, Anthony Guglielmi, a chief of communication for US secret service, revealed that on Friday, special agents from the Chicago Field Office “explored the threat of a conveyed to the Government official we protect.”
“During their investigation, the agents first visited the residence in the local neighborhood and then visited the Hamline Elementary School,” Guglieliem said. “Agents have identified themselves school principal And they provided business cards with their contact data. Public school officials in Chicago returned their earlier demands on Saturday.
In a message addressed to families, Martinez and Chkumbova said: “Agents presented school staff with credentials of the Ministry of Homeland Security, the Federal Department, which oversees immigration and customs implementation (ICE).”
“We later learned that these officials were not from ICE, but from the US Secret Service – a different federal law enforcement agency, also overseen by the Ministry of Homeland Security,” the statement said. “Although this incident was due to the misunderstanding, it reflects the fear and anxiety currently present in our city and reflects the degree of caution that we take with regard to recent changes in federal policy.”
School officials also abolished the DHS decision last week to abolish the directive that prevented Ice from performing immigration in sensitive places such as churches, schools and medical offices.
Trump’s border emperor, Tom Homan, who oversee the ice attacks in Chicago and across the country as part of the president’s mass deportation strategy, defended a turnaround on Sunday during a performance on the ABC News. Homan said that many members of the MS-13 gang are often about 14 years old, and well-trained agents for ICE should have a discretionary right to remove public security and national security threats.

As a result, our school administrators were on a lot of readiness to protect their school community,” Martinez and Chkombova Saturday said. “Despite yesterday’s misunderstanding, the school’s response shows that our school system, in partnership with organizations in the community and our workers’ partners, is ready and ready to keep our students and staff.”
