Bulls’ Coby White takes a vicious dunk over 7-foot-3 phenom Victor Wembanyama


Chicago Bulls guard Coby White accomplished the nearly impossible on Monday night against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Bulls held a one-point lead with less than 20 seconds to play. Bijeli received the ball on the other side of the court and headed for the basket. He jumped to meet 7-foot-3 phenom Victor Wembanyama at the basket. White, who is listed at 6 feet 5 inches tall, won the battle.

White knocked over Wembanyama and the fans at the United Center erupted in delight.

Chicago won the game 114-110 (view, other). White’s dunk was two of his 23 points in 36 minutes of play. In the game, he was 9 of 18 with four assists and four steals.

“I was going to try to dunk it before it got to the rim,” White told reporters after the game, via News basket. “And then I knew as I was driving, if I had to put it in my finger or something, he was going to block it.

“So I was just like I’ve got to dunk it. And then especially try to ice the game and run four. I just wanted to make sure I got the basket.”

Zach LaVine led Chicago with 35 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Wembanyama led the Spurs with 23 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks in the loss. Chris Paul added 18 points and nine assists.

Chicago improved to 17-19 on the season. The Bulls are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

San Antonio dropped to 18-18 on the year. The Spurs are also in 10th place, but in the Western Conference.
