Billy Crystal describes the pain of losing the house in Palisades Fire at a concert of Fireaid Benefit: ‘Fall on my knees’
Billy Crystal, who lost home in Palisades fire, shared a moving message at the La Fireaid Benefit concert on Thursday night at the Kia Forum.
After the Green Day performance, Crystal entered the stage to present the show, with revenue going to a non-profit organization, supporting displaced families, renewing infrastructure, as well as improving fire protection technologies.
“Our goal is simple tonight, raising more money from Dodger spent on free agents,” the comedian joked.

Crystal explained that Steve Ballmer, owner of Los Angeles Clippers and Intuit Dome, would match everyone’s donation on Thursday night, $ 1 for $ 1.
The first donation of the night was from a U2 for a million dollars, which Ballmer will be aligned, Crystal said.
“With your help all over the country and here in the room, we will laugh again. We will listen to music again and we will be fine.”
“You will hear from many people who were tragically affected by these fires, and I was one of them. It was the clothes I wore when I fled with my wife Janica, as many of us did at 7. January.

“I looked like evacuation or someone who had just echoed 7-11,” Crystal joked.
Crystal explained that he entered the stage in Madison Square Garden 23 years ago to maintain his benefit after September 11. He explained that he had come out to the bereaved audience, holding posters with pictures of their loved ones asking if anyone saw them.

Crystal explained that after September 11, he paid tribute to many first answers and firefighters who lost their lives.
“We are here tonight together to thank them and everyone who runs towards danger as we run to shelter and security,” Crystal said.

He paused to greet the first answers, and some participated in the Benefit concert on Thursday night.

“When we finally managed to return to our house to Palisades, where I lived for 46 years, like thousands of you, our house looked like this now,” Crystal said, before the photo of the consequences Palisades fire appeared on the screen.
