Beljani acted again…

As things stand, just five points separate third-placed Manchester City and 10th-placed Fulham as the challengers for what are likely to be eight European places available, including five in the Champions League.

With the teams so close, every point is vital and Aston Villa have already started to strengthen their ranks this winter with the arrival of Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen, who replaced Jaden Philogene in Unai Emery’s side after he completed his move to Ipswich Town.

Although it was considerable speculation about John Duran once againit seems there will be no deal this winter. The same cannot be said for Diego Carlos, who, like Duran, was heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park in the summer but now looks set to leave six months later with a deal to join Fenerbahçe now in the final stages of a move set for a net villa of more than 10 million euros.

Meanwhile, Villa have agreed two more signings of their own in a bid to bolster their ranks following his departure.

Aston Villa are closing in on a deal worth £35m

That’s according to a report from The Boot Room, which claims that Aston Villa are closing in on signing Sevilla defender Loic Bade and Levante defender Andres Garcia in deals worth a total of £35 million.

Villanos are “in advanced talks” to sign Bade in a deal worth “£30m including add-ons” as they look to fill the void left by Carlos’ impending departure. The Frenchman rose to prominence with Sevilla, helping them to European success and seeing his stock rise ever since.

Synchronized “fantastic” on the ball by members of the media, Bade has emerged as a target for Aston Villa and now a deal could be close after they failed to find a way to sign Oscar Mingueza.

Meanwhile, the Villans are set to sign Garcia from Levante in a separate deal worth £5m, with Villa “hoping to have both transfers completed before the weekend”, when they host West Ham.

The two deals will take Villa’s spending this month to close to £60m, having also splashed out just over £6m to sign Yasin Ozcan from Turkey’s Kasimpasa, although he will not join Unai Emery’s side until the summer. Will it be enough to qualify for next season’s Champions League?
