Think him and Nwaneri: Arsenal could sign “unstoppable” promotion Cunha

Arsenal appear to be targeting attacking signings before the end of the January window.

Last week it was announced that Arsenal were interested in signing Matheus Cunha from Vukov. The 25-year-old has been an impressive performer for the struggling side, with Arteta and co planning to take him away from Molineux in the hope of boosting their title chances. However, Cunha appears to be close to agreeing a new deal with Wolves, ending Arsenal’s hopes of landing the striker this month.

It means the Gunners could turn their attention elsewhere, and have recently been credited with an interest in the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez after an impressive start to the season. The striker has been prolific in the Eredivisie as well as the Champions League and that has put him on Arsenal’s radar, but it is unclear how much he might cost.

Arsenal chiefs see ‘excellent’ £150m star as ‘key target’

Cunha and Gimenez aren’t the only strikers on Arteta’s radar, as according to Football Insider, Alexander Isak became Arsenal’s ‘main priority’ for the summer transition period.

The Newcastle United striker has appeared on the radar of several top clubs from England and across Europe in recent months after impressing in the black and white shirt. Isaac, who was called “excellent” striker of Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, has been a superb signing for the Magpies, as he has managed to hit double figures in all three seasons at the club.

Isak has scored 13 goals in 18 Premier League games this season, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed, as Football Insider reports that the Gunners have made the Sweden international “key goal” for the summer. The chances of a shock move happening this month look impossible, so Arsenal are planning for the summer.

The Gunners have been long-time admirers of the forward, having been linked with a move for Isak before he completed his move to St. James’ Park. Isak is said to be incredibly respected 150 million pounds by Newcastle; it is unclear whether Arsenal would even consider offering that amount of money, but it seems the Magpies will aim to get as close as possible if they even consider letting Isak go, as he is under contract until 2028.
