An offer for the permanent transfer of the Chelsea midfielder to Serie A
Chelsea reportedly received offer from Torino for midfielder Cesare Casadei.
Casadei, 21, joined Chelsea from Inter in the summer of 2022 for an initial £12.6m, with a further £4.2m in add-ons, but is yet to make his mark at the Blues after a string of mixed loan spells with Reading and Leicester City.
After making just six cup appearances under Enzo Maresca this season, Casadei is expected to find a new club this winter, with loan options and ongoing opportunities to explore.
Gianluca Di Marzio states that Torino has taken the first step in the pursuit of Casadei. There is no mention of compensation, but the proposed deal is believed to be permanent.
Sweetening the deal for Chelsea is Torino’s willingness to include a buyout clause. This compares with Como’s purchase of Nico Paz, who was signed from Real Madrid for €6 million in the summer, but he could return to the Bernabeu for 9 million euros at the end of the season.
Lazio are also interested in Casadei, but they have not yet made him any offer Chelsea.
Casadei is one of a handful of players who could be moved in the winter window, with left-back Ben Chilwell and fellow midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka also on the fringes of Maresca’s first-team squad.
Chukwuemeka is available on both permanent and loan deals, although the Blues will be looking to sell his full £40m release clause this month.
